This article is fifth in a series about new teachers at Bear River.
This year has brought both new kids and teachers. One of the new teachers hitting high notes is Andrea Fox, Bear River’s new choral accompanist.
Ms. Fox grew up in Los Angeles and as a young child started taking musical lessons.
“Music is a big part of my life,” she said.
As a 16-year old, she said she started to take in music students of her own. She did it partially because her teacher couldn’t take on any more and also because he told her it was good to start teaching young. She later went to Santa Monica college, then got her Master’s Degree at California State University, Northridge.
“I found out about this job through a friend emailing me,” Ms. Fox said, who began in April of last year. “…I love small schools, the atmosphere, how everyone (for the most part) has grown up together.”
Students said they think Ms. Fox was a great addition to Bear River.
“She’s a very sweet teacher,” said Heidi Tyra, a junior. “She tries to help each student as much as she can.”
