Josie Andrews, who has been a librarian for 10 years, just started her first year at Bear River. Andrews graduated from Nevada Union, then went on to the University of Massachusetts for her bachelor’s. Soon after, she got her Master’s from San Jose in Library Information Science. She said she is continuing her journey towards starting her teaching credential program through Fresno in January.
“I love students and I am passionate about education,” Andrews said.
Andrews said she hopes to bring more technology to Bear River in order to help students thrive to learn more.
“I want to make the library a more welcoming place,” said Andrews. “I love Bear River. Everyone has been really accepting and it’s great.”
Staff and students at Bear River love Andrews’ presence at the library.
“She jumped right into the job,” said Jessica Dax, the library assistant. “She makes the library a more welcoming place to both student and staff. …It’s great to have her here.”
“I think Ms. Andrews is sweet,” said Sarah DeRise, a library TA. “She puts a lot into the library. …She’s really fun to work with.”
Andrews also has two kids, an 11-year old boy and 13-year old girl. She said her family loves the outdoors.
