Other than the BRCurrent.com, Ella is a member of Theater Production as a stage manager, the drama club as the secretary, the United States Institute for Theatre Technology club as the treasurer, the English Cultural Enrichment club as the Secretary, the marching band as a clarinet player, Quill and Scroll as vice president, and Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Whew.
“They’re all very special to me in multiple ways,” Miller said. “I found it cool to be able to be a part of so much in such little time, four years isn’t a lot, so being a part of so many programs it’s been amazing.
“One of the things that I liked and I’m excited to get back to is Guide Dogs For The Blind, just a really cool movement.”
In addition, she is enrolled dual-time at Sierra College, where she has taken psychology and American Sign Language.
If it wasn’t obvious already, Miller is extremely hardworking and is recognized for it, especially with her friends.
Sophomore Ella Walsh describes her as “very funny, smart, and hardworking.”
Ella’s best friend, Eden Rose, has known her for four years.
“She is very smart and hard-working, a good friend who is always there for you and always reaches her goals no matter what,” Rose said.
Boyfriend and sophomore Ezra Cruzen recognizes Miller’s ambition.
“When it comes to her academics, she is the most ambitious person I know, I don't know another sophomore doing as much as she is,” Cruzen said. “She is in more clubs than I can count, and on top of that, she is (the) school's stage manager, and she is one of the editors for (the) school’s journalism class.”
Ella is one of those people who brightens everybody’s day. She is the one you always have amazing memories and good times with.
“When hanging with her friends she is always able to put a smile on their faces with either some joke or silly hand jester or a new impersonation over us she learned the night before,” Cruzen said. “Ella Miller is one (heck) of a girlfriend. In all the years I have known her, there has never been a dull moment.”
Whenever Miller has free time she will read. Once, she finished five books in less than a week.
Right now she is very into historical fiction, but she has also been interested in romance fantasy, thrillers and mysteries.
Despite being in the theater tech class for two years, she started stage managing last year in May and has loved it ever since.
“For a long time, I never really felt noticed for what I did, like helping others,” Miller said. “So when I was pulled out (and was told) we are thinking of you as a stage manager, and I was like this is my chance.
“In the background, without even realizing it, I started to fall in love with the way of cues and saying ‘lights and sound standby, go’ and then just connecting with the shows.”
Miller has been in journalism for two years and is the Online Editor, where she is responsible for our social media platforms, making sure they run smoothly and every post gets put up on time. Follow @BRCurrent on Instagram if you haven’t already.
“What I really like about journalism is that we have our own voice and we are backed up with our own voice,” Miller said “We share what’s going on in just such an honest way, and I’ve always loved blunt honesty. I feel like journalism is one of the first steps into feeling like I had my own place and it’s a space I always want to stay in.”
It may be a surprise that despite all that Miller is involved in, none of those is where she faced her biggest challenge.
For a while, Miller had a hard time figuring out how to be social or having a hard time communicating and not worrying about pleasing others.
“I wanted to move high schools two years ago,” she admitted. “I felt like I was struggling to make friends, or just in general, fit in and it was really scary.”
Fortunately, she conquered that.
“The reason I stayed was because I kind of just accepted the fact that there was going to be hard times and there’s going to be good times,” she continues, “and there was a lot of hard mornings where I didn’t feel like I could get out of bed, but finding stage managing and journalism…just brought me back up, and then I met people.”
