Improv Club, a first-year club at Bear River, stays true to their name by being created without preparation.
Scout Pettitt, a sophmore and club president, explained about what Improv Club is.
“Improv Club is a fun club where people can hang out, play improv games and spend time with people who enjoy the same things,” said Pettitt. “Not only does it provide (acting on the spot) for those who can’t join Drama but it helps people get out there and meet new people.”
Drama Teacher Sara Noah elaborated on Pettitt’s definition.
“Improv is short for improvisation, which is an acting/performance technique of making up short or long performances with little or no preparation,” said Mrs.Noah. “In Improv Club, we play improv games, discuss technique, and cheer each other on. We hope to attend an improv performance as a club.”
Adam Merrill, a junior, talked about what Improv Club is to him.
“Improv Club to me specifically is a fun club to do with friends,” said Merrill. “It’s just really fun and it can get really funny with what people do and the creative things that people do in certain situations.”
Pettitt talked about how the club is a great way to open up.
“Improv Club is to help people learn to get out there and make friends,” said Pettitt. “We love to play improv games to help improve our way in acting.”
Aydan Rossovich, a junior, agreed with Pettit.
“The people are really nice and we get to play games and stuff and that’s always fun,” said Rossovich.
Improv Club takes place in Mrs. Noah’s room (G4) every Thursday at lunch. All Bruins are welcome to drop in.
