As the leaves begin to fall, Bear River prepares to say goodbye to fall sports as we wrap up our final games of the season.

This year was very memorable for all student athletes. After an unpredictable season last year, it is great for the sports community to finally get back in full swing. Last fall, most fall sports were cancelled, but our athletes have made a great comeback.

This season has been very rewarding, and has restored the hopes of our community for future athletics. With the success of girl’s volleyball, water polo, fall baseball, and cross country, Bruins are off to a great start.

Following last year’s cancelations, finally getting back into the dynamic of indoor sports has benefited our athletes, skill-wise and morally. With our varsity girls volleyball team going 10-0 in league, and with the boy’s water polo team going 10-1 overall, the fall sports year was very successful.

Varsity football maintained its electric atmosphere throughout the season. With energetic student sections and a supportive community, Bear River football filled up the bleachers with their unstoppable drive and dedication to the game. Bear River leadership kept the spirits high and our motivation yet higher in our support for JV and varsity football.

Leadership also went above and beyond with choosing student section themes, promoting the games, and drawing a crowd to bring as much support as possible. With multiple big games against Colfax, it was critical that Bear River football and volleyball received as much support from their peers as possible.

Bear River girl’s volleyball team has had quite an amazing year. With a 28-10 overall record, and a deep run into playoffs, volleyball definitely had quite the intriguing year. Coach Matt MacDonald led the girls through a deep section playoffs run, while picking up his 30th career win as head coach. MacDonald has had a long and accomplished career, leading our girls team through years of success and hard work.

What is in store for our winter sports programs? With an amazing season of fall sports, this upcoming season is looking very promising. Stay tuned for a continued year of excellence and many surprises.
