Have you ever wanted to travel? Traveling is an experience that many Bear River students have not done before. But some students have had that eye-opening, mind- boggling experience.
Last year the Bear River Travel Club went to Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris. In Summer 2027 they’re going to Greece and Summer 2028 they’re going to the newly-announced trip to Japan.
The first trip lived up to the hype.“It was really cool,” said junior Audrey Hayes of seeing Europe for the first time. “I mean, I haven't been outside of the U.S. before, so it was really cool to see other people's cultures.”
These trips started back in the summer of 2025, and were started by Bear River teacher Mike DeCicco.
“This travel company, EF tours, which is a fantastic company, I found them at a yearbook convention that I went to years ago,” DeCicco said “It just was something I wanted to do. So, the first trip we did was to Paris, and Amsterdam and Brussels, and it was a huge success”.
Kids that have gone on these trips before have had a great time exploring the different cultures and histories.
“Just stuff from like centuries ago, and like walking on the same floor that you can imagine, like kings and queens once did, it's pretty cool,” sophomore Brooke Lee said.
Having a lot of free time and being able to explore the different cities , it was cool to be able to walk around on our own and be able to see things we might have not actually seen well,” Hayes said. So, if you're thinking about going on the Japan trip or are still on the fence about it, hear what past travelers have to say.
“You should totally go,” Hayes said. “The Europe trip was, super, super cool,. I wouldn't say like a once-in-a-lifetime thing, but pretty high up there. It was iIncredibly cool. It's definitely interesting to see other cultures. And also all the guided tours and different things we went on were so cool, and it never felt like we were rushing to get to the next place like we were busy, but we still had a lot of free time.”
“I would say, go in with minimal expectations, so you can really soak up the experience,” Lee said. “Just to have as much fun as you can.”
