With the 25-26 school year ending, the FFA and AG community voted on the new chapter officer team for the 26-27 school year. Bear River FFA is proud to announce their new chapter officers. Malia Spotts, Wendy Fowler, Taylor Shimamoto, Ava Moyer, Tessa Strong, Payten Allen and Larsen Paasch are the seven members of the FFA community selected to serve as chapter officers.
Fowler and Spotts are returning members and are excited to see what's in store for the new team. With it being their senior year, they want to get a lot done for the program. Fowler says, “I would say my plans for the chapter this year is to increase involvement in competitions because this last year, we had a lot of teams, but not many members in each team.”
Allen, a sophomore, already feels that the new team is going to work well together and everyone has a great work ethic. She is heavily involved in the program and being a chapter officer is her next step to getting more involved with her community and chapter.
Allen says, “I ran for chapter office for the experience and to get to know our community better. Being an FFA member this year has changed my life and opened so many doors for my future.”
There were a lot of things these officers had to do to earn their position in the chapter office, including a written interview and an interview in front of your peers. New chapter reporter Taylor Shimamoto states that it is definitely more intensive than others think. For the last section you were asked a question on the spot, without knowing what it is.
Shimamoto says, “You're just thinking on your feet.”
Strong adds that the interviewing process is probably her favorite part, because she can speak about her future goals for the program. She loved to see the involvement that the FFA community had in the process of selecting the new officers.
All seven members can’t wait to bring their ideas to life for the 26-27 school year.
“I’m actually really excited about this because I don’t think I could have hoped for a better team.” Shimamoto says.
