Have you ever thought about how our Leadership team plans our unforgettable rallies?
Lots of time and lots of work.
"To plan a rally we have to make a playlist and we have to give out speaking parts and write a script for the full 45 minutes,” said sophomore class president Khloe August. “Then we have to factor in the performances."
The planning for a rally begins a long time before students are welcomed into the gym, said sophomore Sofia McClearly
“We typically start planning the rallies at the beginning of the year,” McCleary said. “We start ordering a month before.”
“The week before is the busiest week. We are making signs and making sure everything is in the right place and goes to plan."
Both McCleary and August say that they find the rally games online and from social media.
"We really just search the internet like things on TikTok,” Leadership teacher Jessica Lee said. “I have people send me stuff on Instagram all the time. What we want to do is engage with you so we sing along. We call it a ‘low risk’ activity because everyone can participate or not. We also try to pick games that are fun to watch and that aren't embarrassing.
“Our goal is to make sure students don't feel embarrassed while out in front of the school. We call those games ‘high risk’.
Leadership is obviously more than just planning rallies.
“Being in leadership is really fun, and kinda hard, but it's worth it,” August said.
McCleary says that the reason she joined leadership is because “a lot of my friends do it, and I think it is really fun to get involved with the school and be in the community, and also to help make Bear River better with fun activities.”
