Meet Troy Chapman
Have you ever been passionate about things in your life related to God? Troy Chapman is very passionate about football and band at Bear River, but he also glorifies God.
Chapman is a senior at Bear River and plays on the varsity football team, where he plays on the offensive line. He loves all the support he gets from his teammates before games.
“My favorite part of being on a team is knowing they will always have my back,” said Chapman.
The season ended the first week of November, with a thrilling game on Friday against Colfax.
Chapman also does band, and has played piano for five years. He also did a little bit of guitar, but currently in band class he plays the saxophone, alternating between alto and tenor.
“My favorite (show) was the VAPA Christmas show when we combined drama, dance and band programs together,” said Chapman
He is also the president of the Bible Club. They have weekly meetings on Wednesdays at lunch in Jeremy Kerr’s room. They often spend time in small groups reading the Bible. Right now they’re reading Romans, and sometimes they’ll have guest speakers.
“Our club has been focused a lot on building a strong Christian community, but this year they want to focus more on outreach,” said Chapman.
He also helps out with theater tech and he manages some of the shows, which means he is responsible for things like setting up lights or helping with props. He usually helps out with construction, too.
“I stage manage some shows, like talent shows and the last music lab showcase,” said Chapman.
He does lots of sports: football, lacrosse, and wrestling. Chapman got to be part of the lacrosse team back in 2024.
“I’m really excited for this year's lacrosse season. We're going to have a great team,” said Chapman. “I got to be part of the lacrosse team back in 2024. We did alright for our first two years as a team, but it’s tough going against established programs.”
Chapman also does wrestling.
“Our coaches are super supportive and really care about each one of us,” Chapman said. “I would say that wrestling is the toughest sport at our school and I don’t know many people who would disagree with me,”
