On February 27, students will trade their classroom seats for the spotlight as Key Club hosts its annual talent show. The night will feature a variety of student performances, talent, and school spirit. Open to the entire school community, the event encourages students to support friends and family while also supporting a meaningful cause, as all proceeds will be donated to charity.
According to Key Club president Lacey Iverson, the talent show is meant to create a positive impact beyond entertainment.
“Hosting events like this allows Key Club to make an impact on the community by spreading the word about different community service events we do and gathering donations for an organization in need,” Iverson said.
Iverson also shared her excitement about seeing the event come together after weeks of preparation.
“The most exciting part of putting together the talent show this year is going to be seeing it happen and knowing how much work we put into it to get it to that point,” she said.
She hopes the event helps students learn more about Key Club.
“I hope both the audience and the performers have a great time and now know about all of the fun opportunities Key Club gives its members, community service wise,” Lacey added.
Fundraising is a major focus of the event. Key Club treasurer Lyric Lagdamen explained that the money raised will go toward a charitable organization. “In general, any money we raise goes to charities or organizations that know exactly how to use the funds,” Lagdamen said.
For the talent show specifically, the organization that receives the donations will be voted on at an upcoming Key Club meeting.
Lagdamen said concessions will be the main source of fundraising and hopes for strong attendance.
“I have high hopes that we have a lot of people in attendance that will contribute to our fundraising,” she said. “Even something as little as a snack can become a great number.”
Beyond fundraising, organizers say the talent show is also about supporting student performers. Lagdamen shared that working behind the scenes has been especially meaningful.
“Working with our performers is just a great experience for us to lift others up,” she said. “One of the best parts about Key Club is that there are so many opportunities to make connections with new people.”
The Key Club talent show will take place on February 27 and is open to all students. Organizers encourage the school community to attend, support the performers, and help contribute to a cause that benefits others for a night of entertainment with a purpose!
