Are you a fan of video games? Do you want a fun club to attend during lunch?
Welcome to Games Club, a Bear River club for gamers to come together and meet new friends.
Games Club happens every week on Tuesday and Thursday during lunch in C127, Mike DeCicco’s classroom. The Games Club not only plans to be open during lunch but also start hosting after school events.
“I intend on posting a trivia night for the regulars or really whoever wants to come in, maybe learn a little bit about Game Club, Games Club’s president Lance Howe stated. “I do intend on expanding on that, maybe making other events that are not just to the game clubbers, but also to people who are on the outside.”
The club is a great way to meet new people and create new friendships.
"If there is a place that you wish to make some friends, then Tuesdays and Thursdays are the best place to be, just come and play," Howe said.
The club became popular because many people spread news about clubs via word-of-mouth.
“I think it was Troy, actually. Troy Chapman. He was like, ‘oh, you go to the Games Club?’” Urijah Brost said. “I was like, ‘What the heck is that?’ So, he led me to DeCicco’s, and I saw Game Club, which I originally saw them play Smash Bros during their flex. And I was like, ‘Dang, I want to do that.’
“So I just decided to not only start actually playing with them in Flex, but I started playing with them during Tuesday and Thursdays.”
People may hear the name Games Club and wonder what type of games that are played.
“Sometimes we do tournaments. where we will use an online bracket and we will 1v1 each other in Smash Bros.,” Brost said.
Some other clubs may be stressful with planning and intimidating events.
“It's overall just a nice community full of people that share the same interests as me. If I like playing video games and they like playing video games, then why not join, you know?” said Ace Messelin.
“They always try to make announcements, whether in the Discord server that they own or just in person about events that's going on, so it's very social. They never try to keep anything hidden,” Messlein said.
Overall Games Club is a great place to go when you want to meet new people and play some of your favorite games!
